Privacy policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information Fareboard collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights. We've tried to keep it short and in plain English.
1. Who we are
Fareboard is run by Siviter Lifestyle Services Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16525225). Our registered office is 8 Anns Close, Flat 3, London SW1X 8EG.
We are the "controller" of your personal information, which means we decide how it's used and are responsible for looking after it. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@fareboard.co.uk.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZB998396.
2. What we collect
| Information | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Your email address | You, when you sign up or sign in. |
| Your alert settings: the airports you fly from, destinations, price limit and how often you want emails | You, on our website. |
| Account records: when you signed up, confirmed your email and last signed in, your plan, and which deal alerts we've sent you | Created by our website as you use it. |
| Payment and subscription details: your plan, billing period, subscription status, and a reference number for you in Stripe | Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your card details; Stripe handles them. |
| Technical information: your IP address, browser type and the pages you request | Recorded automatically in our hosting provider's server logs when you visit. |
We don't collect your name, address, date of birth, travel history or any special category information, and we don't buy information about you from anyone else.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
UK data protection law says we need a lawful reason ("legal basis") for each use of your information:
| What we do | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Create and run your account, and send you the deal alerts you've asked for, at the frequency you've chosen | Contract: this is the service you've signed up for. |
| Send sign-in links and essential messages about your account or subscription | Contract. |
| Take payments for paid plans and keep financial records | Contract and legal obligation (tax and accounting law). |
| Keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems | Legitimate interests: running a safe, reliable service. |
| Understand, in aggregate, which airports and destinations are popular so we can improve the service | Legitimate interests. |
We only email you the alerts you've asked for and messages about your account. We don't send separate marketing emails, and we don't sell your information.
4. Booking links and commission
When you click a fare in one of our emails, you go to a booking website run by another company (currently Aviasales, through the Travelpayouts affiliate network). We may earn a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. The link tells that website the click came from Fareboard, but we don't give them your email address or any other personal information. Once you're on their website, their own privacy policy applies.
5. Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted companies to run Fareboard. They only use your information to provide their service to us, under contracts that require them to protect it:
| Company | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Render | Hosts our website and database | Servers in Frankfurt, Germany |
| Resend | Sends our emails | Servers in Ireland |
| Stripe | Takes payments and manages subscriptions | UK, EU and USA |
| Cloudflare | Runs our domain name records (it directs visitors to our website but doesn't receive what you type into it) | Global |
We may also share information if the law requires it, for example with HMRC or the police, or if Fareboard is sold, in which case the buyer would have to keep to this policy.
6. International transfers
Some of these companies are based in the USA or may access information from outside the UK. Where information leaves the UK, we rely on the UK's "adequacy" decisions (including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, which require your information to be protected to UK standards.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account and alert settings: while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete these within 30 days.
- If you unsubscribe but don't delete your account: we keep your account so you can switch alerts back on, and delete it after 2 years of no activity.
- Payment and invoice records: 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as tax law requires. Stripe keeps its own records under its own policy.
- Sign-in links: they expire after 30 minutes, and our records of them are deleted after 30 days.
- Sign-ups never confirmed: if you enter your email but never click the confirmation link, we delete it after 30 days.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
8. Cookies
Our website uses one cookie, called session. It keeps you signed in and protects our forms against a type of attack called cross-site request forgery. It's strictly necessary for the website to work, so the law doesn't require us to ask for your consent. It lasts up to 30 days, or until you sign out.
We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't load anything from advertising networks. Booking websites you visit from our emails set their own cookies under their own policies.
9. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it
- have it corrected if it's wrong (you can change your email settings yourself on your account page)
- have it deleted
- restrict or object to how we use it, including anything we do for legitimate interests
- receive it in a portable, machine-readable format (data portability)
You can stop our emails at any time using the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of every alert. To use any of your other rights, email hello@fareboard.co.uk. We'll reply within one month, and it's free.
10. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or phone 0303 123 1113.
11. Security
All connections to our website are encrypted (https). We don't use passwords, so there are none to steal: you sign in with a one-time link that expires after 30 minutes, and we only store a scrambled ("hashed") version of it. Access to our systems is restricted to the people who run Fareboard.
12. Children
Fareboard is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account, and we don't knowingly collect information about children.
13. Automated decisions
Our system automatically decides which deals match the settings you've chosen. This doesn't have any legal or similarly significant effect on you, and we don't use profiling to make decisions about you.
14. Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll email you before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
